Our Mission

As Cairns has already a good number of beginners classes to choose from, we see our niche and passion in offering classes aimed for the somewhat neglected minority of intermediate and advanced dancers.

While we are in Cairns, we invite all dancers

to experiment with a wide range of music and rhythms
to explore the full repertoire of moves in Argentine Tango
to forget about competitions and discover Argentine Tango as the most powerful and addictive social dance on earth

...while learning and practicing at an affordable price.

For newcomers we offer intensive small group or private lessons.

We wish you a great time dancing with many partners on the social dance floors in Cairns and worldwide!

1st,3rd,5th Wednesday of the month	Cairns RSL (large wooden floor, drinks downstairs)	8.30-9.45: Practica - Dance Practice. Free.	From traditional to modern Tango and Neotango music - sometimes also some Salsa/Rueda - bring your favourite music on CD or ipod! Host: Robert ph 0419 798 318

Thursdays	Sapphires Tapas Bar & Grill 39 Lake Street (opp. Woolworths)	8.30-9.30pm : Practica for all levels! Free.	From traditional to electronic. From traditional to Nuevo and Neotango! Designed for fun and upbeat easy social dancing! Airconditioned. Feel free to come or watch, enjoy the music - even if you are not dancing! Saturday 19th of July	Blue Mango Terrace in the Mercure (Accor) Hotel Harbourside Cairns; 209 -217 Esplanade Cairns. Entry also via Lakeside.	6-6.30pm 6.30-8.30 pm 8.30-10.30pm	"All levels Tango class" - beginners welcome! - free! "Social Tango dance evening" - free! DJ "Fusion" plays the best of Neotango! -free! followed by.. "Social Salsa dance night" - free! Dance to an exciting mix of LA and Cuban Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Reggaeton! -free! Host: Robert ph 0419 798 318 Ideal also for non dancers just to enjoy the music, the magnificent atmosphere and view, watching dancers and have a drink. The Tango scene in Cairns is still very new - but growing fast. There are already several informal, fun and social practicing opportunities - see above - every week!

There are no Tango orchestra's here yet but several fun Tango-ish and other beautiful danceable live music events. That way we can dance and practice nearly everyday! Contact Klaus if you are a visiting dancer and keen do dance.

We may also be able to arrange a lift for visiting interstate or overseas dancers to our dance venues on request.

Special Events

Note: "Milonga" is a technique of adapting Argentine Tango technique to a regular upbeat rhythm that is easy to hear and fun to listen and dance to. "Trapsie" refers to the use of accentuating i.e. syncopating steps - one of the most exciting ideas in dance/Tango!
